Carl Rönisch began manufacturing uprights and grand pianos in a small workshop in Dresden in 1845. Due to their outstanding handcrafted and musical class, the instruments soon achieved national importance. This is proven by gold medals at the World Expositions in Paris, Amsterdam, Sydney, Melbourne and Chicago, as well as the appointment of Carl Rönisch as purveyor to the Kingdoms of Saxony, Sweden-Norway and Austria-Hungary. Not least, by the factory branch founded in Saint Petersburg in 1898, Rönisch uprights and grand pianos were among the preferred instruments at the court of the Russian Czar.
The recognition achieved through worldwide exports was furthered even more by famous composers and pianists of this time, such as Strauss, Puccini, Grieg, Rubinstein and Rachmaninoff, who composed his world-famous works on the Rönisch grand piano no. 59183 until his emigration in 1917.
However, the Rönisch family did not allow tragic strokes of fate extinguish its name. After the complete destruction of the factory in 1945, Rönisch found a new home in Leipzig. In 1948, the first Rönisch upright was already exhibited at the Leipzig Spring Exhibition after the war. This initiated a development that carried the RÖNISCH name around the world for the second time.
Following its own claim, RÖNISCH now offers uprights and grand pianos of excellent quality in a diverse range of models, styles and surfaces. The programme encompasses 4 uprights and 3 grand pianos, which are manufactured in more than 100 models, mainly crafted by hand. All parts of Rönisch instruments meet the highest German quality standards.
The special class by RÖNISCH was already founded in 1845 in Dresden. Today, Rönisch uprights and grand pianos are manufactured in the well-known music city of Leipzig. Based on more than 160 years of experience of a German company with a long tradition and an unusually rich musical and cultural past, Rönisch instruments convey security, trust and pride to their owners. They are instruments of lasting value, an investment for generations.
