The Fazioli factory is located in Sacile, 60 Km (35 miles) northeast of Venice, Italy. The area is renowned for an ancient and prestigious tradition in woodworking.
FAZIOLI has produced grand and concert-grand pianos since 1981, when the company was founded by pianist and engineer Paolo Fazioli.
Each instrument is individually handcrafted combining high quality materials with the finest workmanship and technology.
The philosophy of Fazioli Pianoforti remains the same to this day:
- To produce grand and concert grand pianos exclusively, aiming for the highest quality with no concern for large production;
- Not to imitate any other existing pianos, but rather to create an original sound;
- To individually handcraft each piano using time-honoured traditional methods combined with the latest technological advances;
- To strive constantly to improve product quality by using cutting-edge technology.
Fazioli builds about 120 grand pianos per year, in six sizes: F156 (156 cm length), F183, F212, F228, F278, F308 cm (308 cm length). The last one is the largest piano in the market, with the further distinction of having four pedals: three are the usual sustain, sostenuto, and una corda; the fourth is a “soft” pedal that brings the hammers closer to the strings to soften the sound without affecting the tonal quality, as the una corda does. The fourth pedal is available as an option on the other models.
All Fazioli pianos have Renner actions, Kluge keyboards and Renner hammers, all built on Fazioli project.
The bronze capo d’astro bar is adjustable in the factory for setting the strike point and treble string length for best high-treble tone quality and the front and rear duplex scales can be tuned to maximize tonal color.
A critical factor in the sound of Fazioli pianos is the scientific selection of the woods, such as the “resonant red spruce” used for the soundboard, obtained from the Val di Fiemme, where Stradivari sought woods for his violins. Each piece of wood is carefully tested before being used in the pianos. Three different types of wood are used for the bridge caps, each chosen for the most efficient transmission of tonal energy for a particular register.
An incredible level of detail has gone into the design and construction of Fazioli pianos. The pianos are impeccably prepared at the factory, including very fine voicing and perfect tuning of the duplex scales.
The handcrafted set up of Fazioli building process allows for executing any type of aesthetic custom-ordered variation on the six models of Fazioli series (Art Case). The Fazioli artisans are able to realize any kind of finishing and variation required by the customer. Owing to the application of traditional methods coupled with cutting edge technology, they guarantee the highest quality even in the most complex design.
